* Monday, August 20, 2007 * 20th July 07 - San Francisco Day 1 walking down the streets of SF our 3-day bus pass that cost USD18 it lasted more den 3 days tho, wahahha... juz takes alittle bit of intelligence on our part, and alittle bit of overlooking on the drivers' part... and ta-da! we have a bus pass that can last us as long as we want... hee... but thru this, we concluded that the chinese are the most stingy and most ji jiao species, only the chinese drivers will demand to look at our bus pass... -_-''' the first thing on our itinery is to visit the world-famous golden gate bridge!!! golden gate bridge :: diameter of one cable used to build the bridge all-famous jumping shot :: before we embarked on the bridge the scenery from the bridge was so breathtaking... it overlooks the whole San Francisco city... and i guess the good thing abt the weather is, it's so cooling and windy u dun mind walking the whole stretch of bridge if u have time... when we reached the bridge, it was kinda foggy and misty which explains why u can't even see the top of the bridge... we would have walked all the way to the other side of the bridge if our itinery wasnt so packed... haha... and on the bridge... isnt the right bottom photo juz breathtaking??? sunset at golden gate bridge... mmmmm... Lester the Statue :: bottom of the bridge we went on to Haight Ashbury, which is this stretch of shops that sell quirky little things... somehow in USA u find lots of streets like this, and it's really interesting, coz everywhere in Singapore are up-market shops that sell almost the same things with almost the same kinda decor inside... yes! that guy is wearing an orange cone on his head! u noe, those kind of orange cones that the construction workers always used to mark out areas u're not supposed to enter??? YEPZ!!!! all the weirdos in America... haha... the shops at Haight architecturally beautiful buildings The Red Victorian is a really really really old English hotel that has all the old english victorian kind of decor inside... it is now converted into a commercial cafe... the hungry guys stopped over at this little eatery that sells really nice gyros... at least in my opinion... the thing abt US of A is, if you dont eat beef or u're a vegetarian, you'll nvr be able to fully appreciate the food over there! coz they've so many really tasty dishes, be it American or Mexican or Dominican, and they're all mainly made up of beef... and the public transport in SF is mainly buses, if there are trains, den well, i didnt noe abt it at all... haha... but the buses there travel on cables... which i tot is really weird, coz it made the whole city kinda messy, everytime u look up, u see this mess off cable wires all tangled up... the tangle of cables :: a bus travelling on the cables and their public toilets!!! i think i've seen this in movies and shows before... it's a public toilet that works when you put quarters into the coin slot... tat's kaiwei!!!! hahaha... next stop would be the Japanese Tea Garden! at the entrance of the garden tat's the moon bridge, which has really steep steps up and down... while we were all slowly tryin to climb up to the top to take a photo, there's this really cute little boy who juz keep scrambling up and down, again and again and again... haha... tat boy knows no fears manz... we're all old, if we fall, we'll prob break a few bones here and there... hahah... and stoopid lester! insisted on taking tat photo... i was so afraid he'll fall into the pond behind him, coz all he's clinging on to is tat little side by the bridge... haaz... all of us on the MOON Bridge! there was this point where the girls suddenly realise all the guys were missing, when we tot they were all behind us... aft awhile, all 3 of them ran towards us with this little cheeky grin on their faces and a camera full of stoopid photos... haha... they're all 23 years old by the way! -_-''' tat's yew lee's face :: chang and les in a spar and this is supa supa SUPA hilarious!!! les tryin to gain enlightenment :: chang and les in meditation aft jap tea garden, we walked around it, trying to find this little waterfall that we heard was juz around the corner... i tot the place was really really nice. it's like this supa peaceful place that brings u near nature coz everywhere's trees and flowers! ta-da!! the little waterfall... while in search of the waterfall, we met this grp of caucasians who insisted they're on a treasure hunt... haha they're all so jovial it catches on you aft awhile... not to mention, really really friendly... once in awhile, we meet americans liddat which will make me feel better abt the locals there... at least u noe not all the eggs in the basket are bad... with the americans on treasure hunt! our last stop for the day was Alamo Square! one of the steep slopes in SF did i forget to mention how SF is made up of slopes everywhere!!! it's like the whole city is built on a hill! tat's how steep the slope is! u cant even see beyond the bend... sometimes, when we're tryin to get to places, there'll be a point where u stop at the foot of a really steep slope and u juz wonder how the heck cars manage to get up that slope... haha... but i like it!!! i really do! it makes the city look really interesting, i think... and as long as u're standing on a slightly higher ground, you'll be able to see the whole entire city! superb, huh?! Alamo Square! and we found this patch of sunflowers!!!! it's like heavenly bliss to me, coz i totally love sunflowers! they make me happy... =) sunflower heaven!!! and we had the usual jumping shots!!!! haha... it was fun, esp when the weather is so cooling, you dun mind taking a few more NG shots... haha... les trying to destroy my flowers!!!!!! muackersss!!!! :: ching, les and kaiwei anyway, the reason why Alamo Square is an attraction is becoz there's this row of 6 houses there which look exactly the same as each other, juz in different colours... and apparently these 6 houses were featured in an english drama serials... there's the 6 houses! :: along alamo square near the 6 houses, was this little park that overlook the whole entire SF city... supa nice!!! and i suspect "pursuit of happyness" is filmed in SF coz i rem there were several scenes inside that had the father and son walking down slopes, and i bet only SF has tat many slopes for them to film! isnt this beautiful????? :: me and les the girls snuggling for comfort, against the cold aft alamo square, we went for this cheap Mexican eatery! i noe it doesnt exactly look supa appetising, but it tastes so much nicer den it looks! really! the brown mashed up thingy at the side is actually baked beans with cheese, which is one of the main mexican side dish... it's supa nice but very very sinful and filling... day 2, coming up!!! |
