* Wednesday, October 10, 2007 * 26th July 2007 - Grand Canyon, Las Vegas today is Grand Canyon day!!!!!!! wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!! it kinda amazes me how the grp of us could come back from the Strip at 2plus am the day before, and still manage to wake up at 5plus am... i could nvr do tat for sch hahaha... anyway we booked a tour with USA Hostels. tat's the best thing abt the hostel, they settle everything for u, even in San francs and LA too. our tour guide is this qt young looking angmoh guy. i think he's kinda like a private tour guide. he came to pick us all up in this mini van tat was uber cosy!!!!! we fell aslp almost immediately on the 3-hr car ride from Las Vegas to Grand Canyon. stoopid lester pretending to sleep one of my frens, upon seeing these photos, exclaimed tat i look like a 14yr old. -_-''' wahlaos, i've got ppl commenting tat i look 17, or 18 or 19 or 20 or 21 before. but never 14 lor! 14yr olds got so developed onez mehz!!!! wahahhaa kidding lar! i was uber hyper, as compared to my slping tour mates... so i managed to take some random photos on the road trip. i tot these photos, tho simple, look kinda nice. something u'll nvr see in singapore. and tat is why las vegas is so hot!!! it's practically like a desert, outside the main city. stop halfway to Grand Canyon to visit Hoover Dam, which was apparently part of the itinery. nothing much, juz a dam. i had wanted to stay in the car and continue catching up on beauty slp onez. but since paid for it alr, cannot lugi. so muz come out of car and snap a few photos. haha... and aft 3 hrs!!! finally! we reached Grand Canyon!!!!! hmmm seriously, i wonder wat the ppl working at Grand Canyon do on their off days. oh by the way, Grand Canyon is one of the Work and Travel places too. but it's like 3 hrs away from city area, and unlike Virginia, it does not have shopping malls and food centres and watsoever within bus travelling distance. As much as i love trekking and nature, i dun think i can do tat twice a week on off days for 3 whole months. and so, we reached the base of Grand Canyon! tat's the helicopter package, tat will fly u thru Grand Canyon. damn cool! but really expensive. the tour guide brought us all to the visitors' centre where we bought our tickets and boarded the bus which will bring us up to the 2 viewpoints of Grand Canyon. but before tat, we saw this really absurb person. my gosh, she muz really love pink. i wonder how tat guy next to her can still sit there keeping such a straight face. i've nvr told u guys abt the skies in America before rite? wells, it's the nicest i've ever seen!!!! the sky look nearer to u in USA den in Singapore. and there are more clouds, the skies are bluer, and the clouds move much much faster! 1st viewpoint was Eagle Point. chang, ching, yew lee, me, les acting as eagles :: acting as different kinds of birds i tot the 2nd photo was really funny. haha... guys and their stoopid ideas. seriously! the reason why this is called eagle point, is becoz the rocks there are shaped in such a way that it looks like an eagle with widespread wings. not on purpose mind you! it's all natural, according to the tour guide at least. can u see the eagle??? i think the photo on the right is clearer. the two spans on the left and right hand side are the widespread wings. the little dent in the middle is where the head is... us at Eagle Point according to the security there, the edge is expands abt 2inches everyday, and they haf no idea when it'll drop off. so they actually cordone off abt 2 metres of space fr the edge of the cliff. i wonder, if anyone has fallen off grand canyon before... hmmm... me and my 2 lovers in USA and nothing is complete without a jumping shot!!!! dun we juz look like we're in a desert! walked around exploring, and saw all these cute little indian teepees (is tat wat they're called?)... it's so cute and small!!!! and they have many kinds made of different materials. kinda remind me of the 3 little pigs. haha... 2nd viewpoint was Guano Point! which is effectively the main viewing point... coz to be honest, in eagle point, i was kinda disappointed with wat i saw, coz it wasnt as magnificent as everyone made it sound like. but guano point! yes, all my every cent paid was worth it. not to mention, there was a free buffet lunch there for us... wahhaha... the queue of ppl :: the food buffets rock my socks!!!!!!! =)) we onli had 1 serving tho, coz the queue was bloody long. and one impt thing i learnt from USA was, singaporeans are seriously NOT the most kiasu human beings on earth. i dunno why singaporeans always put themselves down by calling themselves kiasu, which is kinda stuck now. and tat's obviously not true, i met worst worst worst ppl in USA. an overall view of part of Grand Canyon we kinda went separate ways to explore Grand Canyon. there were juz so many photos i could take! and yet none of the photos i took could really depict the magnificency of the place. they say pictures speak a thousand words. tat's not always true. these photos i took were NOTHING compared to wat we saw in real life. and the top left photo with the bird, lester was damn proud of that photo, he insisted tat it's a wonderful abstract photo tat requires skills and techniques to be taken. haha... it was a really nice feeling to juz be standing there and looking at the canyon. there was this indescribable wave of feelings tat washed over me. suddenly, u juz feel so small. like all ur life, u've been confined in this certain area, and restricted by this certain system. and suddenly, u've been let out to explore, and u find tat the world is so much so much bigger den u tot. i get this feeling alot in US. like when i heard the gunshots. when i'm standing at the top of Empire State Building. when i'm looking up at the Statue of Liberty. when i'm looking down from the top of the Coit Tower. so anyways. here's more photos, which me and les took when we left the group to explore on our own. top of the world and my fav photo of the pack! OUR fav photo of the pack. it's now both our laptop wallpapers! hee... u make every moment unforgettable. totally. Lester the Conqueror (wahahha!) and jumping shots!!! wahlaos, these took alot to take ok. we were standing near the edge of the cliff, so high up, looking down make u faint. and jumping on these rough terrains tat could anytime juz take u over. soooooo supa cooool!!!! ok lar, dangerous i noe. i dunno wat made us do it. hahah.. but now looking at the photos, it's so worth it can! doubles there was this high pile of rocks which we had to climb up on all fours to get to the peak, where u'll be standing at the highest point Grand Canyon. in the midst of climbing us at the top and juz before we took the bus back to the visitor's centre... another jumping shot! and to end off the grand canyon part of the post... presenting to u... Uncle Chang the bag-hanger heehee... we were all damn shagged when we reached back to our hostel, but it being the last nite in Las Vegas, we couldnt juz go to slp liddat... wat are the chances of us goin back there anyway! so we took a walk down to Fremont Street again, to have another buffet of coz... haha... |
