* Monday, November 12, 2007 * 28th July 2007 - Los Angeles Day 1 sorry for the procrastination ppl!!!!! i'm damn freaking busy these few days, busy playing tho haha... anyway here's LA for you!!!! LA is officially our last stop in USA, before we flew to taiwan... these are the luggages we dragged, and pulled and pushed and kicked to the greyhound bus station to board the bus from Las Vegas to LA. it's a nightmare come true i tell you! we stayed in USA Hostels Hollywood. i think of all the places i've been to in USA, hollywood is prob the safest place. it felt like everywhere there's only tourists and damn rich americans and celebrities, of which i dun find any reasons for any of them to commit any crimes or to rob us. we're prob the poorest ppl in the whole of hollywood at that time. haha... the last two pictures are that of the pantry and kitchen in the hostel, the place where we eat our free unlimited pancakes every morning. haha... i have no idea why i didnt take photos of our room... -_-''' first day! we bought the city pass and took a tour around hollywood. our first stop is the Chinese Theatre, located juz opposite the Walt Disney theatre. the location of our hostel is superb, becoz it's juz minutes walk away from these 2 theatres, and also minutes walk away from the "Walk of Fame". the Walk of Fame is basically inscribed stars on the pathway, with celebrities names on it. under each celebrity name, there's a symbol that represent their occupation, for eg singer or actor or director etc... it's damn cool!!!!! esp when u can go around stepping on their names! wahahha... i have no idea who came up with this idea, becoz i'll feel damn degraded if i'm the celebrity. imagine inscribing ur name on a pathway for everyone to step on... -_- and we took with some of the more famous inscribed stars... i think ppl walkin around us were ready to kill us, coz it was qt crowded, and yet we keep stopping with every few steps to take photos haha... and i guess it wasnt surprising to see some of the americans dressed up as celebrities and posing on the walk of fame. you actually have to pay to take photos with them, tat's how it always work in US. and as usual, your fellow cheapo singaporeans juz took photos of them discreetly fr a dist haha... oh and special appearances by the FCUK brothers... we boarded the City Pass bus, which will bring us around all the common sights in Hollywood. every half an hr (i think) there'll be a bus going around, so you can hop off, take photos, and hop on again... so basically it works like TIBS bus lar... haha... i love my fringe at tat time! i juz cut my fringe, and it's irritating me, becoz it keeps getting into my eye!!!!! arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!! okie sidetracked. anyway, first stop was RockWalk!!!! which is basically like Walk of Fame, except instead of inscribed stars, they actually have the singers placed their hands in wet cement to create handprints. sooooo cooool ritez!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i think i prefer this idea. haha... oh oh oh! and RockWalk is only for singers or music ppl. i love all the handprints!!!! it makes the area look soooo cool!!!! how come singapore doesnt have this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! like a building called the "Inflammable Engineers" or something for ALL Chemical Engineers in Singapore!!! den there'll be this huge ass rack with test tubes on it, and every test tube will have the name of each and every chem engineer in singapore. and den and den! next to this hugeass rack, there'll be this hugeass shop that sells all chemical engineering related stufff!!!!!! like pumps or valves etc... den MAYBE, juz maybe, i'll reconsider working as a chem engineer next time. wahahha... as you can see, the size of the americans' hands are about the same as singaporeans' hands. and that's aerosmith's handprints on the bottom right photo. this is possibly the largest shop in hollywood that sells musical instruments. and according to the shop, alot of musicians actually come to the shop to purchase their instruments. dammit! why didnt we meet any! anyway, chang and les went crazy at this shop... i was kinda bored tho, to be honest. i noe nothing abt all these... which is why i'm so free to walk around taking photos in the shop. he's damn good on the guitar by the way. hee... i'm too lazy to blog in details abt all the other places that the citypass bus took us to. so here's juz a summary! we were on the bus when we passed by this, so i couldnt really take a close look. but i rem the person saying tat one of the females there is marilyn monroe. Club Monaco is one of the hottest clubspots in hollywood. u noe those photos that you always see the paparazzi take of celebrities getting out of cars, abt to enter clubs? (think britney spears and paris hilton) yepz! this is one of those! i dun think i can even afford the cover charge. haaz! oh and the all-american burger outlet is apparently one of the best fast food places in hollywood. den! the bus turned into Beverly Hills!!!!!!!!!!!! the supa up up UP place in hollywood! and also the place where all celebrities stay. how nice if the road leading to my hse actually looked like those above! i love those tall palm trees. we'll actually be taking a tour around the celebrities' houses in the later days in LA, so more on that next time. and the Beverly Hills shopping area is woooohooooo!!!!! dun even think abt entering... haha... it's like paragon magnified! we did get down the bus to take a walk around, but broke as we were when we reached LA, we didnt really spend much... but the branded stuff in USA is really cheap, not absolutely cheap, but relatively cheap compared to singapore. contrary to popular belief by singaporeans, i actually feel that the cost of living in singapore is much higher than that in US. sure, the currency is higher there, but if you were to live there and work there, you'll realise that the ratio of money earned to the prices of consumer goods is actually much better than that in singapore. see the palm next to the pizza? it's to show you how huge the pizza really is. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() hugeass LV building :: Janice Dickinson agency!!!! (for those who watch american top model you'll noe who she is) CBS building den we saw the infamous "Hollywood" sign, and we were desperately trying to snap good shots of it before the stoopid bus zoomed away... -_- i tot it was a superbly fulfilling day, becoz i saw basically how the whole hollywood looks like, and it's exactly how i imagined it to be... and it's damn funny how the few of us (esp Lester) kept trying to see if the person in shades over there is a celebrity, or the person with the cap who keep walking around with his head bent is one too... and den! i saw this female with a scarf wrapped around her head and wearing huge shades, and looking furgitively around, and walking hurriedly too... and i'm damn FREAKING sure she's a celebrity! haaz! ended our day at the "In-n-Out Burger" which on our first day in LA, the cab driver couldnt stop raving about... i love their fries! it's not the typical kind that you'll get in spore. it reads "Best Sweetheart"... which you definitely are... =) (Disneyland photos up next!) |
