31st July 2007 - Los Angeles Day 4


After many days (actually only 3 lar) of rushing here and there to fit our itinery into 24hrs, it's time to lay back, sit back (whichever), relax and take in those glorious sunrays we've been complaining abt since day 1 in LA.

LA's weather is like Singapore's, tho abit more predictable, coz they dun rain tat much, and i totally love it. beaches are always my fav, so thinking abt spending 1 whole day at 2 of the most famous beaches in LA juz totally hyped me up!

we took the free shuttle service from our hostel to the beachy area. first stop was the all-famous SANTA MONICA BEACH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

me and les walked like 20mins from where we alight to this particular spot to take this photo. and of coz to take a walk around lar...

and ta-da! an area full of swings, popping out from nowhere in the middle of the beach. haha... reminds me of west coast park tho.




i love those palm trees by the side... and all around the beach. they juz make the whole place more, i dunno, wonderfully lush.




les heavier, i couldnt push him as high as he did for me... hahahha... swings are possibly the best playground-ish equipment ever built. whoever came up with this idea is a genius! and i thank you for constantly being able to let me experience that flying-up-up-into-the-sky feeling. hee...

while we were playing on the swings, yew lee decided to play monkey rite smacked in Santa Monica Beach...




den les decided it was fun enuff for him to exert all his energy climbing tat (stoopid) rope, so he gave it a shot too...




all the time screaming at me to "hurry up and take the photo!!! my arms very pain!" while i was trying really hard to get the right angle to make him look like he's very high up on the rope when he wasnt... hahahaha...

sorry dear, kinda failed... hahah =P




tat's the oakleys shades he bought fr USA and it's darn freakin cheap compared to spore! plus it's so reflective somemore... haha...

we started to walk from the swings area to the main beach area... u noe, where the hot tanned bikini girls are, and the hot american blonde dudes are (tho i personally tot the brown-haired ones are the better looking ones hee), and the sea!




the lifeguard standing behind me when i was taking the photo was damn good looking! too bad, i was too stoopid to face the other side and pretend to take a photo of the stand while actually taking a photo of him...

haaz! so no eye-candy shots here... =(

the photo on the bottom right are the boogie boards! which we played with when we were in North Carolina (rem my post awhile back ago?!). tat's one thing i'm gonna miss alot!

it's soooooo fun!!!! and soooo uniquely un-singapore. juz becoz singapore's sea doesnt exactly have what they call waves you noe. it's hard to boogie board on such tiny waves...




isnt tat cute!!!!! i took tat while we were walking from end to end of the beach... i had a supa strong temptation to chase after them and make them all fly away. heehee...

admit it, it's fun to do tat wat.

and here, are the usual jumping shots we take EVERYWHERE we go... seriously, EVERYWHERE. and nope, we're never tired of it. we've mastered it to such a stage where every one of us can take with precise accuracy the jumping moments with one shot. hahahah... PROS we are! =))

on a side-note, why do guys seem to derive so much pleasure by jumping on their peers and flattening them??? i juz dun get it...

me and les den walked to this mini funfair at the edge of Santa Monica Beach, hoping to see a boardwalk or some interesting shops.




turns out to be juz a normal funfair with the usual boardwalk, some game stalls, some food stalls, and some rides that look so totally lame. when we saw the ppl screaming away on those rides that seemed to be goin at 10metres per hour, we were both thinking, wait till they take the rides at king's dominion hahaha...




we played some games at the arcade, mainly the machines where u try to position the clamps and retrieve the soft toy inside. yepz! we're all crazy over tat even tho we noe those stoopid lame machines are always out to cheat our coins haha... BUT! les won a donald duck soft toy for me!

it's so freaking cute!!! it's a baby donald duck licking an ice-cream, now sitting peacefully by my bedside hee...

next beach! VENICE BEACH!!!!

which is my personal fav between the 2... dun really noe why either, since the 2 beaches are actually very similar and are connected... but venice beach has a proper boardwalk with many many shops!




Venice Beach seems less commercialized and more natural, at least to me.... it juz seemed tat way. and tat's really nice, coz as much as a commercialized beach provides tons of entertainment, beaches shd always remain natural!

which was why i'm kinda pissed tat the stoopid g*** is building so much stuff on Sentosa! arghhhhhhhhhh!!!

anyway back to Venice Beach, the waters are nicer and bluer, the sand is cooler and softer... and it's juz N.I.C.E.

a place where u can juz sit there and enjoy the sea breeze and not leave at all...

den while the guys were playing soccer (i think), and leaving me and ching with nothing to do, we decided to play with the only thing we had at tat time - my bedsheet from VCU which i brought along as a beach mat.

i dun even dare to look at the ppl around us, coz i'm positive they're sniggering, smirking and rolling their eyes at us hahah...

den we decided to act like wat those china girls do in their magazine photoshoots...




of coz, the bottom 2 photos, we were juz cold. hahahha...

den lester saw us and decided it was damn fun and the bedsheet is a nice toy to play with. so he joined in...




hilarious i tell u. haha...

den the guys left us again, in search of some stuff in the waters... which means me and ching were bored AGAIN. so we decided to play with our cameras...
















actually no lar, they were looking for some water insects in the water.

after washing up and drying ourselves, we headed towards the Venice Beach boardwalk, where all the interesting shops are!!!!




oh ya! we did play a few hrs of volleyball... the gers VS the guys. we were outnumbered but we played well k!!!!

after 3 months of living together, slping together, eating together, bathing together (wahahha!), me and ching had developed an unbeatable amt of chemistry btw us... hahah...

me and les both bought a Venice Beach pullover each, which is supa comfortable and warm and i totally love mine!!!! =)

settled for dinner at this australian restaurant there...




somehow, even tho the sun wasnt exactly blazing tat day, i felt totally sunburnt aft tat... but it felt so damn good, since the last time i went to a beach was like 2 weeks ago at virginia beach...

virginia beach is still the best in my opinion... nothing can beat it. nope, not even aft the IR has finish building on sentosa. Sentosa is far from what Virginia Beach is.

after dinner, we went around trying to find the "Kwik E Mart". according to lester, becoz of the upcoming Simpsons movie (at that time), they chose a 7-11 in each state to change it to the "Kwik E Mart" as featured in the movie. it's kinda like a publicity stunt but a huge one at tat...

and the California one happened to be rite smacked in LA, near Venice Beach! so there we go!




i dun really watch as much simpsons as les... but apparently in simpsons, the Kwik E Mart is manned by ALL indians. their slurpee is called squishee and they sell lotsa donuts which are pink in colour with colourful rainbow toppings on it...




it's amazing how many cars are parked outside this E Mart. goes to show the publicity is seriously working...




looking at chang and les in the photos reminded me of how chao tar we were at tat time... seriously, i miss those times!!!!!!!
