* Friday, June 5, 2009 * While i'm waiting for my Boracay photos to be loaded onto Facebook, let me just blog a little about my Europe trip! Firstly, I'm so glad i went on it. really. the 3 weeks leading up to it, is basically one of the worst periods in my life. there were just so many things happening, i can't even begin to describe. there were lotsa issues at work, so many things happening i just wanna hide in one corner and cry. i came down with fever as high as 39.7 degrees and this was the temperature i had to live with for almost a week (read: 7 days!)... i tot i was going to die, i have never been so sick before. the only thing stopping the doctor from sending me to the hospital is the fact that i've never been to any countries affected with swine flu. my mom was at my throat the entire 3 weeks, she couldnt stop naggin about my europe trip and the swine flu, she even threatened to call the airline and cancel my flight. i wasn't in the holiday mood AT ALL. i ALMOST wanted to back out, even a week before the day i'm supposed to fly, i was still thinking of cancelling... but somehow, God or whichever almighty figure is up there, decided that i deserve something better, and made EVERYTHING go away 5 days before my flight. and i do mean everything. the issues at work got resolved and everything was good. my fever went down to 37 degrees the day after it hit a high of 39.7. my mom miraculously stop nagging and decided that maybe she shd just let me go ahead. when i planned the itinery with les, and met up with the rest of the gang to decide wat to bring, wat time to meet at the airport etc, i was at a high... e excitement and anticipation is unbelievable. Europe is a very different place from all the countries i've been to before. it's very strong and influential in culture, arts, history, geography and architecture. it's unbelievably beautiful, esp Venice. oh my gosh, that HAS to be the most beautiful city i've been to so far (more gushing will come later, when i actually blog abt it). this 15 days trip revived my passion for crepes (yea crepes! =DD) and for history. I remembered, as a student, i was very intrigued and engrossed by all the history i've studied. but wells, studying it for exams is another story. to read and know new facts otherwise unknown to u, is exciting. to read over and over again and to memorise every single date and name, is pure torture. but anyway, i've always preferred studying history to geography. it's so much more interesting to study about people, and their actions, events and their consequences; than to study about rocks and clouds and rivers blah... but of coz i'm sure alot of ppl have differing views from me, esp the Geo students haha... in my opinion though, the beauty of nature lies in the fact that you have no idea how it comes about. a shooting star is much more beautiful if u dunno how it came about. Northern lights is much more miraculous if u dunno how they are formed. so anyway, the 4 cities i've visited on this trip (since EVERYONE is asking me) is: Paris, France -> Berlin, Germany -> Venice, Italy -> Rome, Italy -> Vatican City, Italy okay, make that 5 cities haha... and in my opinion, in terms of overall package this is how i'll rank those cities: 1) Venice, Italy (beautiful beautiful beautiful beautiful beautiful... ) 2) Paris, France 3) Berlin, Germany 4) Rome/Vatican City, Italy Will blog about the trip soon! after my boracay! I'm so gonna go back to Europe next year, i even have the cities planned out already: 1) Prague, Czech Replublic 2) Barcelona, Spain 3) Amsterdam 4) Selzburg/Vienna, Austria the above 4 are supposedly the most beautiful cities in Europe, as ascertained by my frens who have been there. i cant wait i cant wait i cant wait!!!!!!!!! . . . Going back to work after a 2 weeks plus hiatus is easier than i tot... prob coz the pace in office is slower during this period, and also coz there're so many things to look forward to this weekend!! Fri night: Teppanyaki at my house with the Rolex ppl + poker + exchanging of Europe photos Sat afternoon: Potluck at Orchard Scotts Residences with my Finance team Sat late afternoon: coffee with Work and Travel ppl Sat evening: shopping with Les Sat night: Clubbing at Double O/Butter Factory with the RV peeps Sunday: Sentosa wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! |
